Roma volunteer recognised at a state level

Marlene Auld, a Roma Visitor Information Centre volunteer, has taken out the title for the 2025 Queensland Volunteer of the Year at the Queensland Visitor Information Centre of the Year Award.
Maranoa Regional Council Mayor Wendy Taylor said it was an honour to present Marlene with this award on behalf of Queensland.
“Marlene has been a valued volunteer at the Roma VIC for an impressive 13 years, providing exceptional service to visitors and showcasing the best of our region every week,” Mayor Taylor said.
“Our volunteers are the backbone of our community, and their selfless efforts truly make a difference in the lives of others. We are immensely grateful for their unwavering commitment and passion.”
“On behalf of Council, we are truly grateful for the work you and all other volunteers in our region do, we thank you for your service, your passion and your commitment.”
Marlene’s volunteering commitments extend beyond the VIC, as she also volunteers with Red Cross, local polocrosse, and the speedway.
