    At Maranoa Regional Council we are always looking for new and innovative ways of improving services to our communities and have recently restructured our organisation.  Five new Local Area Director positions have been created and we invite applications from highly motivated professionals who are as equally committed to improving services and outcomes for our communities.

    As a member of Council’s Executive Leadership Team (ELT), the Local Area Director, provides strategic leadership across the organisation. This position performs a key role in communicating and engaging with team members to achieve Council’s vision, mission, goals, priorities and expected standards of service delivery. The Director is responsible for coordinating the Directorate’s functions in accordance with legislation to ensure high quality services for communities within their local area and the broader Maranoa region.

    As the primary link between the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), employees and the local communities, the Local Area Director is responsible for:

    • Implementing Council’s corporate model of operating locally and identifying and driving opportunities to increase efficiencies and cost savings at the local level;
    • Leadership and strategic planning at a local and regional level;
    • Delivering organisational performance and strategy;
    • Financial, operational, service planning, and management;
    • Relationship building with key stakeholders at the local and regional level e.g., Government, businesses and community groups;
    • Developing the capability of the directorate’s workforce;
    • Managing risks and ensuring that operations and processes comply with all relevant statutory requirements;
    • Receiving and resolving local service delivery issues and customer requests with a key focus on customer service and community satisfaction.

These Overseer positions are equivalent to an Operations Manager.
     

    Position(s) details:

    Position(s) purpose:

    The Overseer manages the day-to-day delivery of infrastructure services, operation and maintenance programs and projects across the local area.

    Working closely with the Local Area Director and Senior Management Team (SMT), this position will contribute to implementing Council’s operating model of regional planning and operating locally to achieve increasing efficiencies and cost savings at a local level.


    A strong candidate for these roles will have:

    • Tertiary qualifications in disciplines relating to water, sewerage or waste management (or related disciplines); or
    • Less formal qualifications with acquisition of considerable skills and extensive relevant experience to an equivalent standard; or
    • A combination of experience, expertise, and competence sufficient to perform the duties of the position.
    • Tertiary qualification in Local Government (Operational Works) or similar discipline and/or extensive and diverse experience relative to an equivalent standard of expertise and competence sufficient to perform the duties of the position

    The Director Corporate Services is, first and foremost, part of the Strategic Leadership Team that contributes to the leadership of the organisation of employees for Maranoa Regional Council.

    As part of the Strategic Leadership Team, the role includes ensuring activity is focused on:

    • the implementation of Council approved priorities, policies and decisions;
    • promoting a culture of continuous improvement;
    • developing and monitoring people and systems (integrated processes and standard operating procedures) to support excellence in service delivery (internal and external), and ensure legislative compliance – including adherence to the Code of Conduct;
    • ensuring effective, efficient and economical management of public resources.

    Secondly, the Director leads the Corporate Services Directorate to provide services and projects in accordance with Council’s corporate and operational plans, vision, mission, values and team goals.

     

    The Directorate of Corporate Services is a diverse mix of Departments incorporating:

    • Communication, Information & Administration Services
      • including Communications, Elected member support and community engagement, Customer service, Creditors (accounts payable), Debtors (accounts receivable), Information management (records), Rates and utilities billing and Governance.
