Food Safety

Maranoa Regional Council is continually working with food businesses and the community to ensure that food for sale in our region poses no risk to public health.

On this page you will find training, information, fact sheets and useful links focusing on food safety and safe food handling practices.

Please note: some of the links below lead to Queensland Government websites and LG Toolbox, providing standardised local government information relating to certain services.

I'M ALERT Training

Maranoa Regional Council takes food hygiene within our region very seriously. All food businesses have obligations and Maranoa Regional Council is assisting food businesses to meet these obligations by providing free access to this exciting new training tool.

There is a high demand for training within the food sector. This training will assist food handlers in developing the required skills and knowledge to ensure food is handled in a safe and hygienic manner.

The program is easy to follow, includes an entertaining presentation as well as interactive quizzes and the ability to view Chinese text and captions. A training acknowledgement form can be printed upon completion and be kept as a part of your staff records.

Food Safety Supervisor

A food safety supervisor is responsible for monitoring food safety in a food business. All licensable food businesses in Queensland must have a food safety supervisor to help ensure safe food is produced. Your food safety supervisor needs to be 'reasonably available'. This means they need to be onsite or able to be contacted by Council or your employees while they are handling food. For further information refer to the Queensland Health website or click here
