Maranoa Regional Council welcomes the recent announcement from the State Government, confirming $4 million in funding through the Country Roads Connect Program to continue sealing Yuleba–Surat Road.

This investment will help close the unsealed gap between the Carnarvon Highway and the Condamine Highway, delivering safer and more reliable travel for freight operators, producers, residents, and visitors.

The Country Roads Connect Program is a $100 million State Government initiative supporting regional councils to upgrade priority unsealed roads, boosting connectivity and resilience across Queensland’s rural and remote communities.

Mayor Wendy Taylor said the funding outcome highlights the importance of collaboration.

“Delivering major upgrades to roads in our region is only possible when government work together,” Mayor Taylor said.

“This funding is another example of what can be achieved through strong partnerships with the State to benefit our local communities.”

Deputy Mayor and Portfolio Chair for Rural Roads Cameron O’Neil said the announcement is great news for the region.

“The Yuleba–Surat Road is one of those everyday roads our producers, truck drivers and locals rely on,” Cr O’Neil said.

“Getting more of it sealed makes the trip safer and easier for everyone. We really appreciate the State Government backing Council on this project because roads like this are lifelines for our community.”

Council will now work to fast track these works so the benefits can be delivered to the community as soon as possible. Keep an eye out for further updates shortly on these works.
