Maranoa plays host to Minister Kristy McBain

It was a beautiful morning full of excitement and community pride on Tuesday, 19 August.
Maranoa played host to Federal Minister for Emergency Management, Regional Development, Local Government and Territories - Kristy McBain.
The day began with a site visit to Roma’s Denise Spencer Aquatic Centre construction site, accompanied by Councillors Amber Davis, Meryl Brumpton, and Peter Flynn.
Hines Constructions Site Foreman Corey Phipps and Council staff walked Minister McBain through project plans while touring the site.
Excitement continued to brew later that morning as a handful of community members met up with Minister McBain for a sneak peek of the soon-to-be opened Wheat Shed in Wallumbilla.
Spokesperson for Planning and Building, Maranoa Regional Councillor Peter Flynn said it was an honour to show Minister McBain two key projects underway in our region.
“It was an amazing opportunity for attending councillors to personally thank Minister McBain for the Federal Government’s support of these facilities which will bring so much growth to our community,” Cr Flynn said.
Minister McBain said she was pleased to visit the Maranoa to see some of the big projects come to life.
“The Albanese Government is really proud to be supporting projects in our regions, like the Wheat Shed and the Denise Spencer Aquatic Centre that will benefit the Maranoa community,” Minister McBain said.
“It was incredible to see the progress of both facilities which will benefit the region greatly.
“Thank you for this opportunity and I wish you all the best for the forthcoming opening of the Wheat Shed. I look forward to visiting the Maranoa region again down the track.”
The Wheat Shed in Wallumbilla will have it’s grand opening on Sunday, 14 September, more information about the day will be released soon on Council’s website and social media channels.
