Community and not-for-profit organisations across the Maranoa are encouraged to apply for support through Round One of Council’s 2025/26 Community Grants Program, opening Monday, 4 August 2025.

Whether seeking funding for a new project, activity, or event, eligible groups throughout the region are invited to apply and bring their ideas to life.

Spokesperson for Economic Development and Events, Cr Joh Hancock, said Council was proud to support the volunteers and groups who contribute so much to the vibrancy of the region.

“Council recognises the significant contribution these groups make to the liveability and strength of our communities,” Cr Hancock said.

“These grants not only support dedicated volunteers but also create opportunities for innovation, connection and community growth.

“We’re excited to see the projects and initiatives that will benefit from this round of funding.”

A key element of the program is the Small Grants category, proudly co-funded by Senex Energy.

Available Grant Types:

  • Small Grant (co-funded by Senex Energy): $500 – $3,000
  • Community Grant: $3,001 – $10,000
  • Major Grant: $10,001 – $20,000

Eligible Project Categories:

  • Community Development
  • Community Events
  • Culture and Heritage
  • Sport and Recreation
  • Environment
  • Economic Development

In the last round of the grants program, funding was awarded to a diverse range of projects including:

  • Booringa Heritage Museum Restoration Project
  • Airconditioning for the University of the Third Age Roma
  • Developing accessible shooting lanes for the Surat Clay Target Association
  • Injune Cultural Heritage Injune Preservation Society for the Shearers & Shed Workers Reunion

In the first round of grants awarded last financial year, Roma and District Motorcycle Club received a grant to buy a ride on mower.

Committee member Melissa Kimlin said the grant had made a big difference to the club.

“The Community Grant from Maranoa Regional Council enabled us to purchase a mower, which has had a significant impact on both the safety and presentation of our club grounds,” Melissa said.

“With many families attending our events, regularly maintaining the grounds helps us provide a safe, clean, and accessible space for the community, riders and spectators.”

“Having our own mower allows us to keep the facility in top condition year-round, enhancing the overall experience and professionalism of our events.

“Without the support of the Maranoa Regional Council and this grant, we simply would not have been able to make this important investment.

“Their support has been essential in helping us continue to grow and serve our community.”

Council was proud of the help the grant provided.

“This is one of the ways Council partners with our community,” Cr Hancock said.
