Scheduled roadworks: William Street, Surat

Council wishes to advise that bitumen sealing works will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, 17-18 June 2025, weather permitting.

Works are part of Council’s 2024/25 capital works program to provide bitumen to kerb and concrete works in William Street.

Please note William Street between Cordelia and Bertha Street will be closed to all traffic from 12:00pm noon to 3:00pm while works are carried out. 

During this time, the following may occur:

• Odours: The process involves spraying bitumen, which can emit noticeable smells. These odours are non-toxic and are a normal part of the road sealing process.
• Traffic Disruptions: Sections of the road will be temporarily closed to allow the bitumen seal to set. Council would appreciate residents moving any vehicles before 12:00pm noon to avoid inconvenience. Council will provide prior notice before sealing works begin.
• Noise and Dust: Construction activities may create noise and dust, though every effort will be made to minimise these impacts during the works.
