Monthly Financial Report

The monthly financial report noted Council remains on track to achieve the forecast $5.3 million deficit by the year’s end. Council is well underway with development of the Annual Budget for the FY25/26 year and is scheduled to adopt this on 19th June 2025.

Community Book Exchange

Council endorsed the concept of a pilot community book exchange program to be rolled out in selected locations in the Maranoa, with the estimated implementation cost included in the 2025/26 budget deliberations.

Council officers will investigate partnerships with community organisations such as Men’s Sheds for the construction and maintenance of book exchange boxes. The initiative will be implemented to ensure it aligns with existing library services directing users to Rural Libraries Queensland and local library services.

Australia Day Awards

Each year, community members and organisations that make outstanding contributions to the region are recognised at the Australia Day Awards. The 2026 Australia Day award categories were endorsed, with the nominations opening on 1 July 2025. Full details will be provided soon.

In-Kind Assistance Request – Roma Touch Association

Council approved the allocation of in-kind assistance to the Roma Touch Association to host upcoming competitions in Roma. Council moved to allocate funding for general maintenance and has invited the club to an upcoming briefing to discuss the ongoing maintenance of their clubhouse.

Airports | Asset Management Plan

Council adopted the 10-year Airports Asset Management Plan. The Asset Management Plan outlines the maintenance and renewal of strategic airport assets for the next 10 years for Roma, Injune, Mitchell and Surat aerodromes.

Mitchell RSL & Combined Sports Club INC – Trustee Lease

Council entered a Trustee Lease with Mitchell RSL and Combined Sports Club for a period of 10 years in respect to the land and sporting facilities.

Yuleba Development Group – User Agreement – Yuleba RTC Building

Council entered into an agreement with the Yuleba Development Group for the use of the Yuleba RTC Building for a period of 3 years.
