A Wandering Dog Isn’t Just a Nuisance – It’s a Risk.

Did you know that even the friendliest dog can cause harm if left to roam?
Every week, our Community Safety team responds to dozens of reports of wandering dogs. While they do their best, in a region as large as ours, they can’t be everywhere.
That’s why we’re asking for your help.
- Secure your yard. Check your gates. Don’t let your dog roam.
Wandering dogs can cause car accidents, harm livestock, injure other people and pets. Most importantly, they’re at risk themselves.
This is not just another general community announcement. We have seen a significant increase in wandering dogs and in dog attacks. This has an impact on everyone in your community. For those attacked, it can be profound.
As a community, we all share the responsibility to keep our pets, and our neighbours, safe.
If you see a dog wandering, report it to Council. But let’s work together to prevent the problem before it starts.
My Pet. My Responsibility.
