Council celebrates a hopping Good Friday

Earlier this morning, Mayor Wendy Taylor was joined by Deputy Mayor Cameron O’Neil and Councillor Meryl Brumpton to celebrate Easter at the Roma Bush Gardens 25-year celebration.

This was as part of the Easter in the Country celebrations.

A new leaf was turned as Mayor Taylor planted a tree to mark this milestone.

Cr Taylor said the Roma Bush Gardens was wonderful community asset, and a special place to mark Easter.

"It was incredible to see so many people come together in celebration of today's significant milestone at the Good Friday Easter Service," she said.

"The Roma Bush Gardens would not be what it is today without the 25 years of hardwork and dedication from our volunteers.

"On behalf of Maranoa Regional Council, I thank you all for your efforts in nurturing this beautiful space."

Parks and Gardens Portfolio Chair, Cr Meryl Brumpton, said the garden's transformation from 38 acres of bare ground in the year 2000 to the oasis it is today in 2025 is inspiring.

"Roma Bush Gardens is a place where you can fully immerse yourself into a classic scene of Australian landscape, and such a labour of love for so many people.

"The bottle brush tree planted today is the perfect way to mark this chapter, and grow with the gardens," Cr Brumpton said.

Cr Taylor took the opportunity to wish everyone in the Maranoa, and those who are visiting this long weekend, a happy Easter long weekend.
