Hazard Reduction Burns Amby

Maranoa Regional Council advises Amby residents that the Queensland Fire and Rescue and the Rural Fire Service Team will be conducting a planned burn in the region, starting Sunday, 11 August.

UPDATE: Please note the Amby Burn for August 11 has been cancelled due to weather circumstances.

The fire mitigation measure will allow an excess fuel load to be burnt off north of the town along the creek and to the south along the railway line in preparation for the upcoming summer months.

It is recommended that windows and doors are kept closed during this time and those who may suffer from a respiratory condition should keep their medication close by.

Smoke can decrease visibility on the roads with motorists urged to drive with caution and to conditions.

Maranoa Regional Council will continue to monitor the site post burn with residual smoke expected in the days after.

Council would like to thank residents in advance for their cooperation and apologies for any inconveniences this may cause.
