Maranoa Regional Council Elevates Connectivity with nbn® Fixed Wireless Network for Injune Residents

Maranoa Region, 25 January 2024

Maranoa Regional Council is proud to announce the successful acquisition of funds from the Australian Government’s Regional Connectivity Program, in collaboration with the Queensland Government and nbn, marking a significant milestone for Injune residents. The initiative, aptly named the "Injune nbn® Satellite to nbn® Fixed Wireless" project, aims to transition the existing nbn® Satellite network to the advanced nbn® Fixed Wireless network.

This strategic move is part of a broader effort to enhance the digital landscape for Injune residents, providing them with improved broadband connectivity for both homes and businesses. The upgraded infrastructure will empower the community and local businesses to access essential online services, leverage new business tools, and seamlessly integrate into the digital economy.

Mayor Tyson Golder, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "I am pleased that Council has successfully fast-tracked this opportunity for our residents and businesses in Injune. Connectivity is the lifeblood of any region and community, and this initiative aligns with our commitment to delivering essential outcomes for our community, as highlighted in our extensive community consultations conducted last year."

Mayor Tyson Golder, emphasised the importance of collaboration with key stakeholders, including the Australian Government, Queensland Government, and nbn, to ensure the successful realisation of the project. He added, "Working in partnerships is crucial to meet the expectations and needs of our community. This project was creted in response to community feedback from local residents. It is a testament to the dedication of Maranoa Regional Council in fostering connectivity and progress."

Once completed, businesses and residents in Injune can enjoy high-speed internet plans, boasting download speeds of up to 400Mbps, accessible through their preferred retail service provider.

Telecommunications infrastructure projects play a pivotal role in supporting local connectivity and preparing communities for the future. Detailed project planning is currently underway, and specific timeframes for completion will be communicated as soon as they are available.

It is important to note that the implementation of the nbn® Fixed Wireless network will not cause disruptions to the current telecommunications services available in Injune during the construction phase.
