Celebrating our seniors across the Maranoa!

Seniors month 2023 1

Maranoa Regional Council would like to invite senior residents in our communities to come together and celebrate Seniors Month this October!

Towns across the region will be hosting fun filled events to bring our seniors together and celebrate with morning teas, BBQs and various workshops.

Seniors Month is a time to recognise how special our seniors are to our communities.

Mayor Tyson Golder said that senior residents are an essential part of our communities, and it is integral to recognise and celebrate their contribution to our towns.

“It is important that we recognise their vital knowledge and those senior residents who offer up their time to volunteer in our communities. At least 20 percent of the Maranoa region do some form of voluntary work which seniors are a large part of. This is significantly higher than the rest of regional Queensland and above average in the whole of Queensland. Seniors Month events across the Maranoa provide an opportunity to say thank you,” said Cr Golder.
