Roma Saleyards welcomes LifeFlight for Charity Sale

The Roma Saleyards is thrilled to announce that it will be welcoming back LifeFlight Australia as beneficiary of its charity sale this September.

Council has resolved to donate 50% of the live weight and open auction selling fees (capped at $25,000) received for each head of cattle sold at the Roma Saleyards Store Sale on Tuesday, 26 September 2023.

LifeFlight Australia is a world leader in aeromedical care, with a core purpose to save lives and serve the community. Operating with an advanced fleet of helicopters and Air Ambulance jets, this vital rescue service provides the people of Queensland with the assurance that emergency medical care is available 24/7, 365 days a year, no matter where you live.

Roma’s LifeFlight Surat Gas Aeromedical Service (SGAS) helicopter came to the aid of 74 people last financial year. The helicopter undertakes community missions at no charge to patients, as part of the SGAS partners' commitment to assisting in providing the Maranoa region and beyond, with community aeromedical coverage, by donating 150 flying hours each year.

Mayor Tyson Golder recognises the importance of Life Flight and the vital work they do for the region’s residents, workers and visitors in providing aeromedical and primary health care services.

“LifeFlight plays an essential role in providing emergency air rescue in our region and Council is pleased to be able to donate to their organisation once again at the charity sale this September,” said Cr Golder.

“We are so grateful to Council and the people of Maranoa for supporting a service that supports us locally. Many of LifeFlight’s missions are farming incidents involving injuries caused by machinery or involving animals. These are the kinds of serious accidents that could happen to any one of us, so it’s reassuring to know the aeromedical crew is there if needed,” said LifeFlight Regional Advisory Committee Chair Kate Scott.
