Maranoa Regional Council has resolved to invite tenders to purchase land (4.72 hectares) near Edwards Street South, Roma.

This lot will be subject to a subdivision requirement to create a minimum of 30 residential blocks to help ease housing pressure in Roma.

Council is committed to creating more residences for people to live in and will be considering further subdivision proposals (in the same area) at a future Council meeting.

Mayor Tyson Golder said the housing crisis requires all levels of government to work together, and Council is committed to addressing the issue where possible.

“The subdivision of this block will allow several houses to be built which will help combat the housing shortage that is being seen right across the country. Council will be considering subdividing further blocks in the near future to help provide suitable housing options for residents”, said Cr Golder.

Tender details for the block will be made available on Council’s website.
