Maranoa Regional Council tourism operators have shone with the release of the annual Best of Queensland Experiences Program (BOQEP).

Eight tourism operators from across the region, including Maranoa Regional Council, were endorsed by the program which acknowledges tourism experiences that best bring the Queensland story to life and consistently deliver an exceptional customer experience.

The Big Rig - The Night Show Sunset Experience; The Big Rig Tower & Tree Walk and Oil Patch Museum, The Great Artesian Spa, Mitchell, A Day and Night at The Big Rig, Boobook Explore, Calico Cottage Heritage Complex, Motel Carnarvon and Roma Central Motel all now feature on the important tourism database.

Mayor Tyson Golder said its great to see the region’s tourist attractions being recognised.

“Congratulations to all. The Maranoa region has great visitor experiences. The operations listed are top-notch and deserve recognition,” said Cr Golder.

Developed in partnership with the state's Regional Tourism Organisations, the Queensland Tourism Industry Council and the Department of Tourism, Innovation and Sport, the BOQEP uses an array of metrics, and operators do not need to apply to be part of the Best of Queensland Experiences Program.

The program is based on an independent set of criteria that incorporates online customer reviews, responds to consumer expectations, and reflects industry best practices. The criteria are reviewed annually to ensure they reflect changing consumer expectations.

Tourism products require at least 80 points out of 100 to be identified as a Best of Queensland Experience. Operators who are identified receive a host of benefits to help grow their businesses.
