Maranoa Regional Council will pay tribute to King Charles III and acknowledge his Coronation on Saturday, 6 May 2023 through a ceremony at the Wallumbilla Show, Wallumbilla.

In addition, Council’s five Customer Service Centres will raise their flags over the whole weekend to honour the historic event.

The Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, King of Australia, and Her Majesty The Queen Consort will take place on Saturday, 6 May 2023, at Westminster Abbey, London, United Kingdom.

In recognition of the historic commemoration, from 6 - 7 May 2023, the Maranoa region will see an illumination of the Royal Colour of purple on Roma’s McDowall Street trees, the Bigger Big Rig Tower and other centres where possible.

On Sunday, 7 May 2023 at 3pm, a National 21 Gun Salute will be conducted by Australia’s Federation Guard on the forecourt of Parliament House in Canberra, followed by a flypast by the Royal Australian Air Force.

Mayor Tyson Golder said, on behalf of Council and the residents of the Maranoa Regional Council Local Government Area, he is proud to join in the worldwide celebrations of this historic moment for the Monarchy.

“It's a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge this historic occasion by honouring the King and the Royal family. His Majesty has a long history with Australia, having visited 16 times,” Cr Golder said.

All five Council Customer Service Centres currently feature the new Official Coronation image in their respective reception areas. Print-out copies of The King’s Coronation – Messages of Congratulations Register will be available for signage at the Bungil Street Office, Roma over the weekend (6-7 May 2023)
