Have your day currey street

Council has received a request to consider formally naming the gully in the southern end of Currey Street, Roma, ‘Waldron Gully’.

The naming of the gully would be in recognition of the five generations of the Waldron family who have lived and continue to live in this area of Roma.

Dating back to 1946, the Waldron family took ownership of the block of land where the gully is situated, and five Waldron families remain on sub-divisions of this land to this day.

The family are widely known for their commitment to the town of Roma and surrounds, with several family members being formally recognised as Citizens of the Year and other prestigious awards over the years. The family have been business owners in Roma throughout the years, graciously volunteered their time to several community organisations and contributed heavily to sport in the Maranoa region.

The family have requested Council consider this name suggestion as a legacy to their family heritage and contribution to the town of Roma.
