Host opera queensland 2023

Maranoa Regional Council is calling for submissions from local community groups to host Opera Queensland’s latest production, ‘Lady Sings the Maroons’.

For the past several years Opera Queensland has been bringing the joy of opera to all Queenslanders through their regional touring program. This year Council has successfully secured Opera Queensland’s ‘Lady Sings the Maroons’, to be presented in the Roma Cultural Centre on 3 June 2023.

The successful community group will be required to work with Opera Queensland and manage most aspects of the event including ticket sales, set up of the auditorium, assistance with bump in and bump out and running the event on the night.

The community group will benefit financially with profits from ticket sales, as well as the option to include the sale of additional food and drinks/bar service on the night.

Mayor Tyson Golder said Opera Queensland’s regional touring program allows locals to enjoy top level opera performances while also supporting a local community organisation.

“Giving community groups the opportunity to host events such as this offers them another way of raising awareness of their group whilst allowing them to fundraise for their group’s endeavours. This is another way Council is giving back to the community, by encouraging not-for-profit organisations to host and financially benefit from touring events such as this great initiative by Opera Queensland”, said Cr Golder.

Interested parties will be required to submit an Expression of Interest form by Friday, 10 March 2023. To complete the form, please click here.
