Residents are invited to celebrate Australia Day on Thursday, 26 January with Australia Day Awards and plenty of activities happening around the Maranoa to keep everyone entertained.

Australia Day is a time for all Australians to come together to reflect, respect and celebrate.

Events will be held across the region in the local areas of Bendemere, Booringa, Bungil, Roma and Warroo. To view the full list of events, please visit Council's Australia Day page.

We’re pleased to announce that six Australia Day Ambassadors will be joining events across our region to reflect, respect and celebrate this Australia Day. These guests are:
- Karen Jacobson, Founder, The GPS Girl
- Emeritus Professor Roland (Roly) Sussex, OAM, Research Professor, The University of Queensland
- Paul Dellit, OAM, Manager, Moncrieff Entertainment Centre
- Elijah Buol, OAM, Chairperson, Ethnic Communities Council of Queensland
- Melissa and Peter McGuiness, Founders, YOU CHOOSE Youth Road Safety

Mayor Tyson Golder said Australia Day is all about reflecting and doing something Australian like getting together with family or friends in our community.

“There is a lot planned across the region and it is a great time to reflect and celebrate and recognise the individuals who go above and beyond helping and serving our community,” Cr Golder said.
