Council will donate $40,335.05 to LifeFlight from last month’s store sale.

Following a decision to donate 50% of the liveweight and open auction selling fees received for each head of cattle sold at the Roma Saleyards Store Sale on Tuesday, 20 September 2022.

Mayor Tyson Golder thanks all that attended the charity event for their generosity in supporting LifeFlight.

“I am pleased to announce over 6,000 head of cattle were sold on the day, the donations resulting from this sale will contribute to a fantastic cause that benefits all regional and remote communities,” Cr Golder said.

I would like to thank all the vendors that sent cattle to support the charity event which helps Roma Saleyards support LifeFlight. The donations resulting from this sale will contribute to a fantastic cause that benefits all regional and remote communities,” Cr Golder said.

LifeFlight South West Regional Advisory Committee Chair Kate Scott said the event provided a wonderful boost to the organisation’s fundraising appeal for its new Roma Emergency Response Facility.

“We’d like to say a massive thank you to Maranoa Regional Council as well as all vendors who sold cattle on the day, for supporting us with this event. The funds raised will go towards the new base, which the Roma-based LifeFlight Surat Gas Aeromedical Service (SGAS) helicopter crew operates from – airlifting people in need and bringing critical medical care to wherever it’s needed.

“The service provides medical support for mining employees, as well as donating 150 flying hours per year, to respond to missions in the community.”
