TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF ASHBURN ROAD AT EASTERN DIVERSION CHANNEL (ROMA)

Maranoa Regional Council wishes to advise residents that due to overnight rain in the upper Bungil catchment, Ashburn Road at the Eastern Diversion Channel, Miscamble Street between Short Street and Claytons Road and Miscamble Street creek crossing in Roma are now closed due to water over the road.

Closure at the diversion channel is likely to remain in place for the majority of the week as the upstream flows reach town. The Bureau of Meteorology is currently predicting the river height at Roma to remain below the minor flood level.

Council would also like to inform residents that access to the Roma waste facility access is likely to be impacted due to the wet weather with restricted access likely to occur over the coming days.

With the widespread rainfall across the Maranoa, Council would like to encourage residents to remain vigilant and take caution when travelling on the roads.  A number of roads have water over road or closed across the region. A full list of current road closures can be found on Maranoa Regional Council’s Disaster Dashboard

Council thanks motorists in advance for their cooperation while the closure is in place.
