Maranoa Regional Council would like to advise residents that works are due to commence shortly on a major culvert upgrade near the Carnarvon Highway / Miscamble Street intersection.

The works, which are being delivered in partnership with the Department of Transport and Main Roads, include the construction of a new box culvert, road widening and localised channel widening of the long drain.

Once completed, the works will improve road access on this section of Miscamble Street, making it less susceptible to closures during heavy rainfall events.

Works are set to commence on the upgrade project from Monday, 24 January 2022 and will be underway for approximately 8-10 weeks (weather permitting).

To construct the culvert, the western section of Miscamble Street (between Wright Street and Carnarvon Highway) will be temporarily closed to all traffic. Traffic controllers and temporary signage will be in place to help guide motorists and pedestrians safely around the works.

Motorists and pedestrians are advised to use alternative routes via Lovell Street and Arthur Street while these works are being completed.

Council thanks residents in advance for their patience and cooperation while the closure is in place and these upgrade works are completed.

For more information, please contact Council on 1300 007 662.
