Maranoa Regional Council provides assistance through:

Grants, Non-Financial Assistance and Sponsorship

Council partners with community, government and business to grow our region, developing opportunities, lifestyle and attractions for current and future residents. 

In doing this, Council provides support through community grants, non-financial assistance and sponsorship.

Community Grants

Round 2 for 2023/24 will be open 12 February - 29 March 2024.

Council supports non-for-profit organisations with funding for community-based projects under its grants program partnered with Senex Energy

The partnership has created a Small Grants category under Council’s Community Grants Program, enabling community groups to apply for grants from $500 to $3,000. These funds will be distributed from an annual pool of $30,000 provided equally by Council and Senex. There is also a Community Grants program ($3,001 - $10,000) and Major Grants program ($10,001 - $20,000).

    Applicants should contact their Local Development Officer on 1300 007 662 to discuss their project prior to submitting their application.​

  • Grant recipients are required to complete the relevant Acquittal Report within two (2) months of the completion of the project, or by the due date specified in the Grant Acceptance Agreement (whichever is earlier).

  • It is a requirement that successful applicants recognise Maranoa Regional Council and Senex where appropriate, in media and advertising opportunities.

APLNG Liveability Grants

Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG) Operated by Origin Energy and Maranoa Regional Council are working in partnership to deliver the APLNG Liveability Grant Program. The grants have been established with the objective of supporting projects, events and activities that improve the liveability of the Maranoa and have a direct benefit to Maranoa residents.

  • There will be two rounds per financial year in 2022/23 and 2023/24. Please read the Grant Guidelines for more information and prior to completing the application form.

    Round 3 opens Monday, 2 October 2023 and closes Friday, 10 November 2023. Notification to organisations is six weeks from closing date

Regional Arts Development Fund

Financial assistance for local projects with artistic and cultural outcomes is available through the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF).

RADF invests in local arts and cultural priorities, as determined by our local communities. The program promotes the role and value of arts, culture and heritage as key drivers to develop sustainable, diverse and prosperous local communities.

The Regional Arts Development Fund is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Maranoa Regional Council to support local arts and culture in the Maranoa.

  • Applications are open all year round and will be assessed case by case.

    Hard copies of guidelines and application forms are available at Maranoa Regional Council libraries or Customer Service Centres.       

    Maranoa Regional Council RADF Committee

  • Applications for the 2019-20 Regional Arts Development Fund saw two funding rounds offered to the Art Community. 

    Maranoa Regional Council had an allocation of $30,000 from Arts Queensland to help fund quality art projects.

  • Applications for the 2018-19 Regional Arts Development Fund opened on Friday, 8 February 2019 and closed Monday, 18 March 2019. 

    Maranoa Regional Council had an allocation of $25,000 from Arts Queensland to help fund quality art projects.  The RADF budget for 2018/19 has been fully expended, and no further rounds will be available until early 2020.

In-Kind Assistance

Eligible organisations (As stated in the Community Grants, Non-Financial Assistance and Sponsorship Policy) may apply for non-financial assistance, including in-kind assistance through use of Council equipment or plant and fee waivers of Council facilities. This excludes bond payments.

Sponsorship Program

Applications are required to meet the aim of one of the categories identified in the table below. Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria found on page 2 of the Policy.  

  • Category Aim Funding
    Local Events To attract an attendance of up to 500 people and be of interest to a local community or a small segment of the region. Up to $1,000
    Regional Events To attract an attendance of 500-2000 people from across the Maranoa region with the potential to attract attendees from neighbouring regions. The event will provide reasonable economic and social benefits to the region Up to $2,000
    Significant Events To support large-scale events synonymous to the region that potentially run longer than one day and typically involve approx. 2000 people or more. The event would have potential to attract visitorss from outside the LGA and provide considerable economic and social benefits to the region. Up to $5,000
    Destination Events To support large-scale social, cultural, industry and sporting events for the purpose of attracting overnight visitation and delivering tourism and economic benefits to the Maranoa region. The event would typically run longer than one day and involve more than 2000 people with a sizeable portion of attendees being from outside the LGA. This event would provide substantial economic and social benefits to the region.  Upon application
