Maranoa Regional Council Announces New Childcare Educator Bursary

Maranoa Regional Council is excited to announce the commencement of 2024’s Childcare Educator Bursaries.

Ensuring the retention of childcare workers within the region, the bursary aims to assist those who have completed their studies and are looking to enter the workforce.

To be eligible for the bursary, applicants must fill out the online registration form before Sunday 31 March 2024.

Applicants can register before completing their studies; however, must be on track to finish their studies in 2024.  

Completion of the following qualifications, with confirmation of intention to work in the Maranoa for 12 months, constitutes eligibility for the following Childcare Sector Study Bursaries:

  • Certificate III - $1,000
  • Diploma - $2,000
  • Bachelors - $3,000

After three years of work in the Maranoa with a diploma or bachelor’s qualification, Childcare Educators are also eligible to apply for a Retention Bursary of up to $5,000.

Council resolved to fund the bursaries at its 8 November 2024 Ordinary meeting. The aim of the bursaries is to improve access to childcare for all families in the Maranoa by incentivising the workforce to come to or stay in the Maranoa Region. The bursaries will provide financial assistance to educators who are undertaking their Certification, Diploma or Degree qualifications in Childcare.
