Have Your Say on Maranoa's Weighbridge

Public Weighbridge - Have your say

The Council has been asked to consider a public weighbridge in Surat or the broader Maranoa area.

Due to the financial allocation required to construct a weighbridge, the Council is seeking the public’s opinion to gauge the needs and interest levels of this project.

A public weighbridge is a large set of scales designed for weighing vehicles, including trucks and trailers to ensure that vehicles are within legal weight limits for public roads. They are accessible to the public and can serve commercial activities to support compliance with vehicle weight regulations, load optimisation and fuel efficiency. Weighbridges are designed to assist industry in weighing goods such as agricultural products, farm produce, scrap metal and more.

Maranoa Regional Council CEO, Edwina Marks, states “This represents a pivotal chance to provide input to the council concerning the necessity, location and demand for a weighbridge. I highly encourage residents and stakeholders to voice their views on this issue using Council’s Have Your Say platform,”.

The Council welcomes public and stakeholder feedback at this time through the Have Your Say platform.

Feedback closes at 5pm on Friday 24th of February, 2024.
