Making of local laws

  1. On 9 October 2025, Maranoa Regional Council resolved to propose amendments to its local law suite.  Council now invites submissions on the following proposed local laws and subordinate local laws:
    1. Amended Local Law No. 1 (Administration) 2011;
    2. Amended Local Law No. 2 (Animal Management) 2011;
    3. Amended Subordinate Local Law No. 2 (Animal Management) 2011;
    4. Amended Local Law No. 3 (Community and Environmental Management) 2011;
    5. Amended Subordinate Local Law No. 3 (Community and Environmental Management) 2011;
    6. Amended Local Law No. 4 (Local Government Controlled Areas Facilities and Roads) 2011;
    7. Amended Subordinate Local Law No. 4 (Local Government Controlled Areas Facilities and Roads) 2011;
    8. Amended Local Law No. 5 (Parking) 2011;
    9. Amended Subordinate Local Law No. 5 (Parking) 2011;
    10. Amended Local Law No. 6 (Operation of Saleyards) 2011;
    11. Amended Local Law No. 7 (Operation of Aerodromes) 2011;
    12. Amended Local Law No. 8 (Waste Management) 2018;
    13. New Subordinate Local Law No. 1 (Administration) 2025; and
    14. New Local Law No. 1 (Miscellaneous) 2025 (repealing existing Subordinate Local Laws 1.1-1.18).
  2. Council has identified anti-competitive provisions in the proposed local laws and subordinate local laws. These are outlined in a Public Interest Test Plan ("PIT Plan").

Inspection

3. A copy of the proposed local laws, subordinate local laws and the PIT Plan may be inspected at any of Council’s administrative offices (see https://www.maranoa.qld.gov.au/About-Council/Council/Contact-Us) or viewed on Council's website at https://www.maranoa.qld.gov.au/Home.

Submissions

4. If you wish to make a submission about the local laws, subordinate local laws or the PIT Plan, please make your submission in writing by email to council@maranoa.qld.gov.au or by mail to Marano Regional Council Local Laws Review, PO Box 620, Roma QLD 4455.

To be considered, submissions must be received by 5.00 pm on Friday 14th November 2025.
