Best Practice Guidelines

The Queensland Government's 'Events in Queensland—Best practice guidelines for event delivery in Queensland' outlines best practice guidelines and templates to help event organisers to run safe and successful events.

The guidelines are targeted toward medium sized events but can be used for most kinds of events. This page also includes templates, resources, and contacts for event organisers in Queensland.

Conferences & Events in the Roma region: Planner’s Guide

Council Venues

Council has a range of venues across the region that are available for hire. For more information and to book a venue, contact Council on 1300 007 662 or council@maranoa.qld.gov.au.

Permits

Currently, Council does not require event organisers to apply for a license to hold an event on Council owed or controlled land. However, we encourage anyone looking to hold an event on Council land to discuss their plans with their Local Development Officer or the Events Attraction Officer.

You may need to acquire other permits, approvals, or licensing, depending on the type of event. For example, a Queensland Police Service Special Event Permit, temporary food license, or a permit to sell or supply liquor.

For more information, see the best practice guidelines from the Queensland Government.

Event Sponsorship and Funding

Council supports the delivery of events, programs and services which provide identified economic, social, cultural or environmental benefits to the Maranoa region through the Community Grants, Non-Financial Assistance & Sponsorship Policy.

Further funding opportunities may be available externally. Check the Australian Government's Grants and programs finder to search for more opportunities: Grants and programs finder | business.gov.au
