Street Party: 2026 Santos Festival of Rugby

The Santos Festival of Rugby will be bigger and better than the years gone before with the event kicking off on Roma’s McDowall Street on Friday, 18 September with a free Street Party.

Serving as the curtain opener to the rugby action the street party will kick off at 4:30pm with food trucks, extended opening hours for some of our local businesses, live entertainment, and last but not least, over 100 players from Queensland Reds and NSW Waratahs, including their full Super Rugby and Super Rugby Women’s squads.

Across the following super Saturday, the Festival of Rugby will have plenty of football action for the whole community.

Maranoa Regional Council Mayor Wendy Taylor said Council is proud to be a major sponsor of this exciting event once again.

“Hosting the Santos Festival of Rugby every year is already a highlight for our region and now expanding the event to include more than 100 rugby players from the Queensland Reds and NSW Waratahs gathering for a vibrant Street Party is phenomenal.

“Sport is such an important part of life out here, and it’s a privilege to host such a significant sporting event in our region.

“Thank you to Santos for choosing the Maranoa each year to host this event, which brings high-quality action to the outback.”

Maranoa Regional Councillor Peter Flynn, Portfolio for Sport said this festival boosts the sporting culture across the region.

“The annual Santos Festival of Rugby brings top quality, live sporting entertainment right here in the outback for people out in the bush to enjoy,” Cr Flynn said.

“Council is proud to continue to support this event as it brings people into the Maranoa, supports local businesses and inspires aspiring athletes to keep perusing their sporting dreams.

“Maranoa, what are you waiting for? Get in quick and purchase your ticket.”
