Each artist offers a deeply personal interpretation of the landscapes of northern New South Wales that are reflective of the environments they live in and travel through.

Skye McKenny’s own garden, in Yamba, and the Northern NSW National Parks inspire her layered, abstracted conceal and reveal style acrylic paintings. She has always painted what appeals to her, mostly native bushland and still life native flora and fauna. 

 

The landscapes and floral paintings of Jude McBean are found from the sea at Yamba to the black soil plains of Goondiwindi. Her love of lookouts, helicopter rides and flowers inspires her work. A College of Fine Arts, UNSW, graduate and former Director of Grafton Regional Gallery, her work is held in the Stanthorpe, Tweed, Grafton and Inverell regional collections.

 Bruce Zietsch, based in Yamba, paints large acrylic paintings that are emotional responses to experience, to water, to light and to environment. “I don’t think too much about what I am aiming for, I just let the paint, my mood and the particular day direct me.”

 

The impressive ceramics, by Max Powell are created in his studio just outside of Glen Innes. Max's large, hand-built stoneware forms draw on the New England landscape, built from extruded clay pipes with layered glazes fired up to six times. Max taught ceramics at the New England Institute of TAFE for thirty years. He studied painting at the National Art School in Sydney before continuing further study in ceramics at East Sydney Tech and Monash University, gaining Graduate Diplomas in Fine Arts (Ceramics) and Education.
