Boil Water Alert: Amby

Residents of Amby are advised to boil tap water intended for drinking from today, Tuesday 1 September until further notice. This precautionary measure following repairs made to the township’s chlorination system.
The alert has been issued based on advice from Queensland Health and the Drinking Water Regulator. It is necessary due to low chlorine in the towns water reticulation network.
Council is actively monitoring water quality as treatment systems are restored. The boil water alert will remain in place until Queensland Health and the Drinking Water Regulator confirm that the water is safe for consumption.
A quantity of bottled water is available for the community behind the Amby Hall and Council will continue to keep this topped up while this alert is active.
Council apologises for any inconvenience caused and thank residents for their patience and cooperation during this time. Council will provide further updates as the situation progresses.

Consuming unboiled drinking water could lead to illness, especially for vulnerable people (e.g. those who are very young, elderly or those with weak immune systems).

Residents should bring drinking water to a rolling boil and then allow water to cool before using it or storing it in a clean, closed container for later use.
Kettles with automatic cut-off switches are suitable for producing boiled water.
Variable temperature kettles should be set to boil.
