The development and future-proofing of the Maranoa region was front and centre on Thursday, 3 September, as Maranoa Regional Council launched its Why Maranoa, Why Now Investment Prospectus at the Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise (TSBE) Evening.

Against the backdrop of the Big Rig in Roma, Maranoa Regional Council unveiled the new investment prospectus, an essential resource signalling that the Maranoa region is open for business and ready to work hand-in-hand with investors to turn opportunity into reality.

Maranoa Regional Council Mayor Wendy Taylor said the launch of the prospectus marks an important step in positioning Maranoa for continued economic growth and regional prosperity.

“This prospectus highlights the many advantages our region offers investors, from industry strength and connectivity through to lifestyle and liveability,” said Cr Taylor.

“We are not only showcasing the strength of our existing industries, but also highlighting the practical advantages that make the Maranoa an attractive place to invest, live and do business.”

Maranoa is a practical regional investment destination with clear and measurable economic strengths. The region’s economy is estimated at $2.78 billion, supported by more than 2,600 local businesses and established industry capability across mining, agriculture, energy, transport, health care and tourism.

The scale of existing industry activity highlights the strength of the local economy. Mining generated around $1.551 billion in 2022–23, while agriculture, forestry and fishing accounts for 53.2 per cent of registered businesses, reflecting a strong production base and well-established supply chains.

Maranoa also offers strong freight and market access, with direct connections via the Warrego and Carnarvon Highways, Roma Airport, and links to Wellcamp Airport, the Port of Brisbane and the Port of Gladstone. This connectivity strengthens the region’s appeal for businesses seeking efficient access to suppliers, customers and export pathways.

Alongside the region’s industry strengths, the prospectus recognises the importance of key investment enablers such as affordable housing, childcare access and workforce attraction. Together, these factors help create the conditions for sustainable growth, business confidence and a strong regional lifestyle, along with great investment opportunities in these sectors.

Councillor Joh Hancock, Portfolio for Economic Development, said the prospectus provides a comprehensive overview of the investment opportunities available across the region.

“For businesses considering expansion, relocation or a new regional opportunity, Maranoa offers the fundamentals - industry demand, supply-chain connectivity, available networks, infrastructure access, and a local council team ready to help investors understand the opportunity before they commit.

“We encourage anyone interested in investment opportunities to contact Council through our dedicated Investment Concierge Service. Our team is here to help.”
