Open Now: Community Grants Program Round 1 for 2026/27

Are you in a community or not-for-profit organisation in the Maranoa seeking funding for a new project, activity or event?
Now is your chance to make those dreams come true and bring your ideas to life with Maranoa Regional Council’s Round One Community Grants opening!
Councillor Johanne Hancock, Portfolio for Economic Development and Events said Council is excited to support more of our community organisations in the first round of Community Grants for the 2026/27 Financial Year.
“Council’s Community Grants program gives organisations that extra boost to keep doing amazing things in the Maranoa,” Cr Hancock said.
“We encourage all groups to apply, whether it is for a big or small project, as we know that every little bit helps.
“This is just one of the ways Council supports and shows our appreciation for organisations right across the Maranoa.
“We look forward to seeing what projects come forward from this round and are excited to see the positive outcomes that comes out of this round.”
A key part of the program is the Small Grants category, co-funded proudly by Senex Energy.
There are a range of community grants available, including:
Available Grant Types:
- Small Grants (Co-funded by Senex Energy): Up to $5,000 (No co-contribution required but favoured).
- Major Grants: $5,001-$20,000 (Up to 50% co-contribution required).

In the last round of the grants program, funding was awarded to a diverse range of projects, including:
- Benderoo Bulls – Purchase of canteen equipment
- WOW Dance Studio – Air-conditioning the dance hall
- Life Christian Church – Invade the Show
- Roma Bush Gardens Ring Tank – Pathway, track and carpark repairs
- Mitchell and District Garden Group – 2026 Garden Days
- Teelba State School P&C Association – 60-Year Celebration
- Roma Touch Football Club – Purchase of a whipper snipper
- Surat Golf Club – Sand
- Cultural Heritage Injune Preservation Society (CHIPS) – Upgraded laptop and printer
- Roma Debutante Ball Committee – Ball 2026
- Surat Aboriginal Corporation – Surat State School Breakfast Club
- Roma Polocrosse Club – Horse stall upgrades
- Roma Butter Factory – Air-conditioning project
- Injune Tennis Club – Replacement of lighting units
- Step into Dance Inc – Maranoa Costume Library
- Dunkeld Pony Club – Workshop
One of the grant recipients from the latest round of funding, Deb Phelps, Treasurer and Secretary of Life Christian Church, Roma said the small grant of $2,649 helped them continue to bring their project ‘Invade the Show’ to life in 2026.
“We feel humbled to be one of the recipients to receive another Small Grant from Maranoa Regional Council and Senex Energy,” Deb said.
“It was the most enjoyable and perfect two days to use these funds in such a community minded and constructive way.”
“It has been an absolute pleasure and privilege for the Life Church volunteers to serve the Roma community at the Roma Show for the past 13 years. Each year we have contributed to the atmosphere of the Roma Show by providing free activities for children to enjoy, including crafts they can take home as a special reminder of their day at the show.”
