Attention Maranoa’s youth – your seats in Council’s Chambers awaits!
Published on 31 August 2026
Council is pleased to announce that expressions of interest for the exciting new initiative, the Maranoa Regional Youth Council (MRYC), are open now.
As part of the MRYC, the youth will connect with Councillors, Council’s operational teams and the community, all while developing their leadership skills and contributing to decisions that impact their communities.
Portfolio for Youth, Councillor John Birkett said that he encourages Maranoa’s youth to explore this opportunity.
“The MRYC is aimed at empowering the next generation and it is an initiative that is not one to be missed,” Cr Birkett said.
“I encourage young people aged 12 to 18 from across the region to submit an expression of interest for the Maranoa Regional Youth Council, particularly if they want to play an active role in improving their communities. This is a great opportunity to build confidence, develop new skills and be part of leading positive change - all while having fun.
“Council are excited to welcome the youth into the Chambers and to work with them as we continue to make a real difference to the Maranoa.”
