Council to consult community about Draft Biosecurity Management Plan

This October, Maranoa Regional Council will undergo the next stage of updating the Biosecurity Management Plan 2027-2032 by holding free community consultation forums across the region that will focus on the newly drafted document.

Held in Mitchell, Injune, Yuleba, Surat and Roma, the forums will allow Council to identify and address priorities, emerging biosecurity risks, strategic directions and opportunities for improvement.

The details for the forums can be seen below:

Thursday, 8 October:

  • Mitchell Shire Hall: 9:30am – 11:30am

Friday, 9 October:

  • Injune Supper room: 8:00am – 10:00am

Monday, 12 October:

  • Yuleba Memorial Hall: 9:00am – 11:00am
  • Surat Supper Room: 1:00pm – 3:00pm

Tuesday, 13 October 2026:

  • Roma Saleyards: 8:00am - 10:30am

Portfolio for Rural Services and Biosecurity, Councillor Brendan Seawright encourages landholders, industry groups and other relevant stakeholders to come along to the forums and have their say.

“The consultations will be a great way to connect with the community and gain their feedback about the draft Plan,” Cr Seawright said.

“Along with holding the forums, Council is also conducting a survey to obtain more information from the community about the draft Management Plan – I encourage the community to complete the survey, as every piece of feedback will help inform the Plan as it continues to be developed.”

The draft Biosecurity Management Plan is available for viewing now.

The survey is open now and closes at 5:00pm on Monday, 12 October 2026.  

A timeline is in place for the development of the Biosecurity Management Plan process.

Registrations are not required to attend the forums.
