Seniors in the Maranoa community have enjoyed a busy month of celebrations throughout October. Jam packed with free events and activities, Council celebrated the contributions of our residents during Queensland Seniors Month.
Kicking off the festivities, the Lions Club of Roma hosted the Annual Seniors Month BBQ. The afternoon was filled with good weather, great food, and even better company. Residents were invited to enjoy a relaxed start to the day at Oliver's Café, while the Roma Men's Shed mixed new faces with old at their Morning Tea. Both events had attendees sharing stories over a cuppa and helped connect different community members.
The regional event put on a show with the Annual Seniors Month Luncheon, served up to residents by the Maranoa Councillors. An afternoon of classic hits performed by our very own Tom Jones impersonator (combined with a surprise medley from Elvis Presley) had feet tapping while Seniors enjoyed roast meals, flowing drinks, and trays of desserts.
Council was proud to provide community members with free transport to and from the events, ensuring equal accessibility across the outer towns.
