Desexing Vouchers Available Now

Maranoa Regional Council is encouraging pet owners to take a proactive step towards responsible pet ownership, with 100 desexing vouchers valued at $150 each available during July as part of National Desexing Month.

While puppies and kittens may be adorable, the reality of unplanned litters can place significant pressure on animal welfare services and the broader community.

Council’s Community Safety Team regularly responds to reports of abandoned or unwanted litters, as well as incidents involving roaming animals. Desexing is one of the most effective ways pet owners can help reduce these issues while improving the health and wellbeing of their pets.

Community Safety Portfolio Councillor Amber Davis said desexing plays an important role in creating a safer community for both people and animals.

“As a community, we all have a role to play in promoting responsible pet ownership and keeping our neighbourhoods safe,” Cr Davis said.

“Desexed pets are generally less likely to roam, which can help reduce the risk of dog attacks, livestock incidents and road accidents involving animals.

“Desexing also provides important health benefits and can contribute to a longer, happier life for your pet, With Council offering $150 desexing vouchers, there has never been a better time to have your cat or dog desexed.”

The vouchers are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are limited to one voucher per household.

Vouchers can be redeemed at Maranoa Veterinary Surgery and Roma Vet Clinic and must be used by 31 December 2026.

Pet owners are encouraged to apply early, as voucher numbers are limited.
