Published on 17 October 2025
It was a morning of anticipation, joy and excitement on Thursday, 16 October as the Injune community, Mayor Wendy Taylor and councillors Joh Hancock, Jane Vincent and Meryl Brumpton gathered around for the official unveiling of the Injune Eagle Sculpture.
Councillor Brumpton opened the event, acknowledging sculpture creator Stuart Taylor and the Sculptures Out Back committee for their hard work.
“This long term and highly anticipated unveiling marks a special occasion for the Injune community,” Cr Brumpton said.
“The eagle is a tribute to our region’s natural and agricultural heritage, and a nod to the local sporting teams who have proudly competed under the Injune Eagles banner. It stands as a symbol of strength, resilience, and community spirit that defines Injune.
“Thank you again to our project supporters, lets celebrate this moment together and welcome the Injune Eagle home to its permanent place to be enjoyed by locals and visitors in the years to come.”
Attendees cheered as supporters Mayor Taylor, Santos, Sculptures Out Back and the Injune Creek Gallery representatives cut the ribbon to officially unveil the sculpture.
The Wedge-tailed Eagle sculpture, crafted by Stuart Taylor from Deniliquin, New South Wales, is a fitting symbol for the Injune township and its surrounds. The sculpture acknowledges the legacy of the Injune Eagles— Injune’s current cricket team and the proud history of their past Rugby League teams.
This project was made possible with the generous support of Santos, Sculptures Out Back, community members, and Injune Arts.
This sculpture is located at the Injune Multipurpose Centre, Hutton Street, Injune QLD 4454.
