Maranoa seniors were kept busy in October with a range of free, fun-filled activities to participate in.
As part of Queensland Seniors Month, Council recognised and celebrated the important contribution seniors make in their families and communities.
Events included a morning tea at Mitchell’s Great Artesian Spa, the annual Lions BBQ and the regional luncheon and entertainment held at the Roma Clay Target Club.
The free luncheon and entertainment at the Roma Clay Target Club proved to be the highlight event with St John’s Tribute Choir and the Roy Orbison Tribute Band keeping attendees well entertained and groovin’ to music.
Residents from outlying towns were provided free transport to and from the event and the councillors were honoured to serve lunch and dessert to our region’s seniors.
Spokesperson for Events Councillor Johanne Hancock said Council was honoured to celebrate 65 years of Seniors Month across the state alongside other Queensland Councils.
"This month provides us an incredible opportunity to give back to our seniors and celebrate the tremendous impact they continue to make, while enhancing community connections and fostering intergenerational connections," Cr Hancock said.
“Hosting events like these is just one of the ways Council says thank you.”
