About the Exhibition

A collection of artworks inspired by the natural landscape and birdlife found on the edges of and beyond the Great Dividing Range.

Cate Day and Heather Gall are Sunshine Coast Hinterland artists. Heather lives just outside Maleny at Bald Knob and Cate lives in Maleny.

Cate and Heather love where they live, yet they share the experience of feeling a close connection to regional and remote Queensland, having both also resided ‘Beyond the Edge’!

While Heather finds inspiration comes from both the natural landscape itself and from the character and colour of our Australian birdlife within their natural landscape, Cate’s contemporary, expressionist landscapes portray the light and energy of time and place.

Cate and Heather feel a deep affection for the special places that those who have lived beyond the Great Divide will understand. This exhibition pays homage to their connection and those ties.
