Legal Education Workshop for Service Providers: Child Protection Legislative Framework

Women's Legal Service Queensland presents a free legal workshop for community service providers in the Roma region, thanks to the support of the Clayton Utz Foundation.

This legal education session provides an overview of the child protection framework under the Child Protection Act 1999 (Qld).

Participants will be guided through key aspects of the legislation and how child protection matters are understood and progressed within the legal system.

 

 

Topics include:

  • The legal framework for child protection, including when a child may be considered in need of protection and how “harm” is defined
  • Statutory interventions, court processes, and the range of child protection orders
  • The roles of key participants and how matters progress through the system
  • Additional considerations within the legislative framework
  •
