Updates to Amby Waste Transfer Station
Published on 18 March 2026
Maranoa Regional Council would like to advise residents of Amby and the surrounding areas of the upcoming updates to the Amby Waste Transfer Station.
These updates have been established as to meet Queensland State Government requirements while also meeting the needs of the users, the community and the environment.
The Amby Transfer Station will become a locked facility as of Monday, 27 April 2026.
Residents can obtain a key should they wish to access the facility (applications must be received and payment completed prior to receiving a key).
If residents with a wheelie bin service would like to obtain a key, a key bond of $65 will be required. If residents without a wheelie bin service would like to obtain a key, they will be required to pay for both the key bond ($65) and 50% of the annual wheelie bin waste collection service (currently $155.50 annually). These fees are an annual fee, the initial fee is for 2026/2027 financial year, and an invoice will be sent each July post your initial request.
All waste at the Amby Transfer Station must be placed into the bins provided or the allocated bunded areas for scrap steel or green waste, which will be available soon.
To assist with this transition, Council staff will be available at the Amby Waste Transfer Station from 11:00am to 2:00pm on Monday, 27 April 2026 for any resident that has queries or requires assistance in completing their application, and all residents that have paid and been approved can collect their key.
To request a key or if you require any further information, please contact Council’s Waste Services team on 1300 007 662.
