Help spread warmth to Maranoa community members this winter

Maranoa Regional Council’s encourages residents to become involved in the 2026 Winter Blanket Appeal which aims to provide additional support to community members in need during the cooler months.

Donations for the appeal open this Friday, 1 May with residents welcomed to donate new or preloved, clean blankets until donations close on Friday, 29 May.

Donations can be dropped off at the following customer service centres located across the region: Roma, Surat, Mitchell, Injune, Wallumbilla and Yuleba.

Service providers are also invited to nominate individuals and families in need of a blanket (including children) until Friday, 29 May.

For more information on nominating someone in need, or if you are not affiliated with a service provider, please call Council’s Community Support Officer on 1300 007 662.

Mayor Wendy Taylor calls for residents to participate in the Winter Blanket Appeal.

“I encourage residents to donate new or clean, preloved blankets to the appeal during the month of May,” Mayor Taylor said.

“The Winter Blanket Appeal is an annual project and every year it reinforces the special community spirit of the Maranoa, with people coming together and helping those in need. 

“Together, through the 2026 Winter Blanket Appeal we hope to spread warmth and compassion – reminding those doing it tough that they are not alone, and that support is always within reach.”

The blankets will be distributed in early June, with more information to be released in due course.
