Free Pool Inspections available this December, January and February
Published on 04 December 2025
The Maranoa Regional Council will be conducting a free Domestic Pool Safety Inspection Program for the period from 1 December 2025 – 28 February 2026.
During December 2025, January 2026 and February 2026, residents can make sure their pool is compliant by contacting Council and booking a free inspection, with fees waived for domestic pool safety inspections and building applications for new domestic pools.
Swimming pools include any above or below ground structure principally used for swimming or bathing and capable of being filled with water to a depth of 300mm or more, including some types of portable pools and spas. Council encourages residents to take advantage of this program to ensure that their pool is compliant with Queensland’s pool safety laws.
Portfolio Spokesperson for Planning and Building, Councillor Peter Flynn, encourages the Maranoa community to remain vigilant on their pool safety and take advantage of the free inspection program to ensure they are safe and compliant this summer.
“We understand that as the weather heats up and with the development of the Denise Spencer Aquatic Precinct underway, people are looking for alternative options, which includes pools at home,” Cr Flynn said.
“Please be aware that pools, including some portable pools, are required by Queensland law to be compliant with the pool safety laws. We encourage you to utilise the inspection program to educate yourself on whether your pool is compliant, to ensure that you not only stay safe this summer but avoid the risk of fines.”
For residents wishing to obtain a Pool Safety Certificate, the Queensland Building and Construction Commission fee will still apply.
