Council would like to advise organisations located across the Maranoa that are planning upcoming events that Council’s Events Assistance Program applications close on Thursday, 30 April 2026.

The Events Assistance Program has been carefully crafted with funding to suit events of all sizes, with Council offering up to $2,000 per application to support events across the Maranoa region.

There are three types of event categories and funding levels available as part of the Events Assistance Program:

  • Community Events: For small-scale events with up to 300 attendees, focused on a specific town or local community. Funding: Up to $500
  • Regional Events: For events attracting 300-1,000 attendees from across the Maranoa region, delivering moderate social and economic benefits. Funding: Up to $1,000
  • Large-scale Events: For events with over 1,000 attendees, potentially running over multiple days and drawing visitors from outside the region. These events provide significant community, tourism, and economic outcomes. Funding: Up to $2,000

Spokesperson for Economic Development and Events, Councillor Johanne Hancock encourages Maranoa organisations to take advantage of the Events Assistance Program.

“The Events Assistance Program can be of great benefit to successful recipients as the financial assistance can help them cover costs such as event setup, promotion, equipment hires or venue expenses,” Cr Hancock said.

“Council is pleased to offer this program to our local community organisations and to support them with their events.

“We know how important these organisations’ events are in building community spirit, fostering regional identity and supporting local economic and tourism outcomes.”
