Upcoming Hazard Reduction Burn: Wallumbilla

Residents of Wallumbilla are advised that Queensland Fire Department will be undertaking a planned hazard reduction burn this Saturday, 15 August 2026.

The fire mitigation measure will allow an excess fuel load to be burnt off at Wallumbilla Creek, east of the showgrounds near the Wallumbilla South Road.  

It is recommended that windows and doors are kept closed during this time and those who may suffer from a respiratory condition should keep their medication close by.

Smoke can decrease visibility on the roads with motorists urged to drive with caution and to conditions.

Maranoa Regional Council will continue to monitor the site post burn with residual smoke expected in the days after.
