Music, Memories and Connection this Seniors Month
Published on 01 October 2025
Get ready to sing along and tap your feet - Council is teaming up with Sconetime Roma and Bakearoma to host a lively Seniors Month celebration featuring a Roy Orbison Tribute Band and a special performance by the St John’s School Choir.
Guests will enjoy a free luncheon and an afternoon of great entertainment, with the event bringing together music, food, and community spirit to honour seniors across the Maranoa.
Councillor Joh Hancock, Portfolio Chair for Economic Development and Events, said the celebration highlights the value of connection and community.
“Seniors Month is about recognising the important role our seniors play in strengthening the Maranoa,” Cr Hancock said.
“This event is not just about good food and great music – it’s about celebrating connection across generations and saying thank you to the people who continue to give so much to our communities.”
The Roma luncheon is one of several events taking place across the region for Seniors Month, including a morning tea at the Great Artesian Spa in Mitchell and the Lions Club of Roma’s annual Seniors Month BBQ.
To help seniors from across the region attend, free buses will run from Mitchell, Injune, Surat, Wallumbilla and Yuleba.
Bookings are essential. To reserve your place, contact Council on 1300 007 662 and ask to speak with your Local Development Officer.
