We’re kicking things off in March with some exciting updates from the latest Council meeting! Here are just a few key outcomes:

Roma Saleyards Charity Sales

Council adopted an updated Roma Saleyards Charity Sale Month Policy.

This review ensures we continue supporting vital aero-medical services such as LifeFlight and the Royal Flying Doctor Service through our annual Charity Sale Month while aligning with Council’s governance framework and the strategic direction of the saleyards.

Australian Government Safer Local Roads and Infrastructure Program & Heavy Vehicle Rest Area Initiative | Consideration of Project Nominations

Council will apply for funding under the Australian Government’s Safer Local Roads and Infrastructure Program to upgrade the Hoganthulla Road and Mt Moffatt Road intersection.

This $2.25 million project will improve road safety and freight efficiency, with Council committing a 20% co-contribution if successful.

This is a step forward to improving Maranoa’s road network and increasing safety in these highly used areas.

Roma and District Cricket Association - Irrigation and Drainage Upgrade funding

At this week’s Ordinary Meeting, Council resolved to seek endorsement from Australia Pacific LNG to utilise $60,000 from the Workers Transition Agreement to support the Roma Cricket Oval irrigation and drainage upgrade.

Subject to APLNG endorsement, the funding will assist the Roma and District Cricket Association to progress the project and improve the oval for future cricket seasons and community use.

Submission to the Productivity Commission’s Review of the Determinants of Regional Airfares

Council is advocating for fairer, more affordable, and reliable air services for our community by making a submission to the Federal Government’s Productivity Commission’s Review of the Determinants of Regional Airfares.

This is another step forward to improve air services across the Maranoa.
