Development searches simplified by new online tool
Maranoa residents have an easier way to view and access local development information with the launch of Council’s new online planning platform.
The new local development search will provide residents with an online, self-service portal, allowing access to past and current development application details and basic property information for the Maranoa Local Government area.
Cr Peter Flynn, portfolio for Planning and Building, said the new portal will provide easy access to the information that developers and residents need to stay informed about the progress of development applications, in a much more user-friendly way.
“The new planning portal was developed by local government for local government, and it enables Council to continue to improve access and transparency in the development assessment process, which is vital for making good planning decisions,” he said.
“While residents have always had access to this information, it’s not always been easy to access, but the new function is much more intuitive and easier to use.
“The new portal, called Development.i, was developed by another Queensland Council for local planning and is so useful it has been adopted by a number of other Queensland Councils,” Cr Flynn said.
The platform is a powerful tool for anyone from home owners, concerned citizens, community groups, real-estate agents, development consultants, investors, town planners and councillors.
“It will allow users to search for a development application using the application number, location, address or via an interactive map built into the portal,” Cr Flynn said.
“This new online tool lets you see what development is happening near you on a map, easily change filters and save searches you are interested in, receive alerts when new applications are lodged and track the status of an application as it progresses, which is a huge improvement.”
