Council Meeting Snapshot: Thursday, 9 April 2026

Published on 10 April 2026

We’re kicking off April with some exciting updates from the latest Council meeting! Here are just a few key outcomes:

Café on Second – Option to Renew Lease

Council has approved a one-year lease extension for Café on Second in Injune with Womblebank Sawmilling Co Pty Ltd. This ensures the café will continue serving our community for another year.

Local Laws Review

One of the important things Council adopted at this meeting was an update to our local laws, with the first full review since 2011. For me, one of the key changes is a new maintenance of premises provision under Local Law No. 3. That is really about helping clean up boarded-up or neglected buildings in our business districts and lifting the overall presentation of our towns. Alongside that, we have also updated a number of other local laws covering practical issues like waste, parking, saleyards and animal management

Amendment to the 2025/26 Budget

Council has adopted the amended 2025/26 Budget, ensuring it aligns with our financial goals and community priorities. This again reinforces this council's commitment to get council back into surplus next year and the out years. This aligns with our long-term financial goal for a sustainable future for the Maranoa.
